# The Chairperson of the ANC national executive committee for economic transformation, Zuko Godlimpi says the DA’s objection against Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment is based on false information. Godlimpi was speaking during the meeting of the national executive committee in Ekurhuleni yesterday. He responded to the DA’s recent push to replace BEE with its own Economic Inclusion for All Bill:
# The deputy minister for Water and Sanitation, David Mahlobo has issued a firm warning against vandalism, illegal connections and criminal acts targeted at water infrastructure. He urged residents to safeguard public assets, and report wrongdoing to police. Mahlobo says the department’s commitment is resolute and steadfast in addressing the long-standing water and sanitation challenges across the country:
# The GOOD Party is calling on the Trade, Industry, and Competition Department to increased oversight and regulation of the online gambling industry. The party says according to the latest National Gambling Board’s annual report, the value of the gambling industry is large at 75-billion-rand in 2024/2025 financial year. Sarah Mabotsa says GOOD supports the implementation of proposed regulations, as already adopted by countries such as Australia, the UK, and Finland, which have achieved a decline in illegal gambling traffic:
# Ukraine is working to resume the exchange of prisoners with Russia, hoping for the release of one-thousand-200 Ukrainians. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky many meetings, negotiations and calls are now devoted to this. His security chief, Rustem Umerov, on Saturday said he held consultations in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, with the support of Kyiv’s partners, and the parties agreed to return to the Istanbul agreements. The agreements are prisoner-exchange understandings brokered with Turkish mediation in 2022, setting out rules for large, coordinated swaps between Russia and Ukraine.
# Rugby: Saturday’s international rugby did not just feature another 14-men victory for the Springboks, but also four other nail-biting matches. The French team, who dramatically lost to the Boks last weekend, secured a 34-21 victory over Fiji, while the Irish men demolished the Australians 46-19. Wales managed a last-minute victory of 24-13 over Japan, with England beating New Zealand 33-19, in what many considered a shock defeat. The last match of the weekend takes place this afternoon when Scotland and Argentina take each other on.
