# Gift of the Givers demands a probe into the role of Israel and airline companies in apparent human trafficking
# Donald Trump suggested he has made a decision on Venezuela’s military operations
# And Tennis: Carlos Alcaraz secures an ATP finals showdown with his great rival Jannik Sinner
# Gift of the Givers says it demands the Presidency and government agencies to investigate the role of Israel and airline companies in apparent human trafficking. Spokesperson Sarah Oosthuizen says the circumstances of the 153 Palestinians who arrived at the OR Tambo International Airport this week, raise serious concerns about human trafficking and Israel’s ethnic cleansing operations. She says people were registered on the website of an organisation called Al-Majd:
# President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his deep sadness at the passing of educator, diplomat and business leader Franklin Sonn who contributed significantly to different sectors of society and the economy. Sonn was a recipient of the National Order of the Baobab and passed away at the age of 86. President spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya says Ramaphosa offers his condolences to Sonn’s family and associates nationally and internationally:
# The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ending gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa. The department’s spokesperson, Cassius Selala, says the department continues to lead efforts to ensure the full implementation of the National Strategic Plan on gender-based violence. He says the fight requires collective action and sustained commitment from all sectors of society:
# Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Tasneem Motara is appealing to all beneficiaries of RDP houses to not sell or rent their houses, especially not to undocumented foreigners. The department’s spokesperson, Tahir Sema, says these actions are illegal, undermine the state’s efforts to eradicate homelessness, and directly deprive a genuinely needy South African family of a house. He says the housing backlog is a deep seated structural challenge rooted in the ailing economy and rapid urbanisation:
# President Donald Trump suggested he has made up his mind on a course of action in Venezuela. According to CNN officials briefed Trump this week on options for military operations to potentially oust President Nicolás Maduro. The US military already has more than a dozen warships and 15-thousand troops in the region. Trump earlier indicated he was drawing closer to a path forward to cut down on illegal flows of migrants and drugs, and the possibility of regime change. Experts say Trump is likely to face long military commitment and chaos if he ousts Maduro in Venezuela.
# And tennis: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will face off for the ATP Finals title after tennis’ two biggest stars cruised into the final of the prestigious season-ending tournament on Saturday. Alcaraz, already confirmed year-end world number one, cruised past Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-2, 6-4 in Turin to set up the title match all tennis fans wanted to see after a series of thrilling battles between the pair this year. Sinner earlier on Saturday sent Alex de Minaur home after a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Alacaraz has won four of this season’s five meetings with Sinner, which all came in the final of top-level tournaments.
