# President Cyril Ramaphosa says the fight against corruption must follow the rule of law and due process. Answering questions in the National Council of Provinces, Ramaphosa highlighted the progress made by the Special Investigating Unit, the Hawks, and the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption in making arrests, pursuing prosecutions, and recovering stolen assets. He added that any cabinet member charged with a serious crime must step aside pending the outcome:
# Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has accused KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of manipulating public perception through what he calls, mind games. Sibiya claims Mkhwanazi interfered in investigations and misled the public under the guise of protecting South Africans. Sibiya further alleged that Mkhwanazi’s social media presence creates a false hero image while undermining police integrity. He warned that unchecked behavior could create an uncontrollable power within law enforcement:
# Chief Magistrate of the Pretoria Regional Court, Vusimuzi Mahlangu, who is presiding over the case against Police Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo, has recused himself. This comes after he was subpoenaed to give evidence at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, told the commission that the bail conditions imposed by Mahlangu on Khumalo and his co-accused were excessive and disruptive to the workings of the police service. The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption says a new magistrate will take over the case today.
# Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says president Cyril Ramaphosa was attempting to do damage control in the National Council of Provinces after praising the city’s governance record. Hill-Lewis states the city continues to outperform ANC-run municipalities, with a record 40-billion-rand infrastructure budget, 75-percent of which benefits low-income households. He adds that Cape Town tops national rankings with clean audits and reliable service delivery, proving that DA-led metros deliver real progress.
# British prime minister Sir Keir Starmer on Tuesday told the House of Commons the ceasefire in the Middle East would not have been possible without US president Donald Trump. He described what happened as a moment of profound relief for many people, although it is tempered by the knowledge of what has happened. Starmer confirms the UK is still providing aid like water, sanitation, and hygiene products:
