# A suspect wanted for the murder of IFP deputy chief whip Khethamabala Sithole was fatally shot by police in Duduza, Ekurhuleni this morning. Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says officials traced Zamani Ximba to a hiding place, where he pointed what appeared to be a firearm at them. Police opened fire before later discovering it was a replica gun. Masondo confirmed two suspects will appear in court on 20 November:
# The Special Investigating Unit has seized three multi-million-rand Lamborghinis, designer furniture, and valuable artworks from tenderpreneur Hangwani Maumela’s three-storey Sandhurst mansion in Sandton, Johannesburg, as part of an 820-million-rand asset recovery linked to alleged coordinated syndicate looting at Tembisa Hospital in Gauteng. President Cyril Ramaphosa’s nephew allegedly benefited through 41 companies awarded government tenders. Freezing orders are already in place on his properties in KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town, and his bank accounts. Officials say today’s raid continues the ongoing campaign against public sector corruption.

# France hosts Foreign ministers from Arab and European countries today for talks on helping the Palestinians once the Gaza conflict between Israel and Hamas ends. The parties earlier agreed to a ceasefire deal to free the remaining living Israeli hostages held by the Palestinian militant group. It is seen as a major step towards ending the war that has killed tens of thousands of people and unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe.

European governing body UEFA said earlier it was against the idea of games being played overseas, but would allow it on exceptional basis, along with Italian sides AC Milan and Como’s Serie A match in Australia in February. The president of Spain’s La Liga, Javier Tebas, describes the encounter as a historic step which will project Spanish soccer into a new dimension.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-10-cents and the euro at 19-rand-84-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-85-cents and Bitcoin trades at 123-thousand-499-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-and-54-dollars-25-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 66-dollars-10-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai has won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Royal Swedish Academy praised his visionary and compelling body of work, which explores the power of art amid apocalyptic and challenging themes. The Nobel Committee’s Steve Sem-Sandberg says Krasznahorkai, inspired by his trips to China and Japan, is known for telling long, imaginative stories with strange and extreme characters:
