Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# The ANC accuses the DA of promoting crime against humanity and genocide
# Minister Groenewald says 209 parolees have committed murder last year
# And the Patriotic Alliance clears Kenny Kunene
# The ANC says it condemns the DA’s defence and continued support of the apartheid State of Israel. DA Federal Council chairperson, Helen Zille, has drawn criticism after sidestepping questions about Israel’s atrocities in Gaza. In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, Zille avoided taking a clear stand on whether Israel’s actions in Gaza amounted to genocide. The ANC says it stands vindicated in government’s pursuit of the genocide case against Israel in the International Court of Justice, and against the DA, who stand for promoting crimes against humanity and genocide.
# Correctional Services minister Pieter Groenewald says he is committed to building a balanced, fair, and effective parole system. The department began a two-day National Parole Review Summit at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre in Pretoria on Monday. Last year, 209 parolees committed murder, and more than 330 committed rape. Groenewald says some of the problems include overcrowding, the composition of the parole board, and rehabilitation at the facilities:
# The Patriotic Alliance has cleared its deputy president Kenny Kunene, of any wrongdoing following an internal forensic investigation, after his alleged links to murder accused Katiso “KT” Molefe. He was found in Molefe’s Sandton home when police pounced on him to arrest him for the murder of Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody. The investigation found that Kunene was truthful when he said he was accompanying a young journalist when he was found at the home of Molefe. Kunene is the party’s mayoral candidate for Johannesburg.
# US president Donald Trump says the Food and Drug Administration will notify doctors that the use of Tylenol during pregnancy can be associated with a significantly increased risk of autism. Some studies have shown a link between pregnant women taking Tylenol and autism, but these findings are inconsistent and inconclusive. Tylenol maker Kenvue strongly disagrees that acetaminophen, Tylenol’s active ingredient, causes autism, saying it is the safest pain-relieving option for pregnant women. Trump called the rise in reported autism cases a horrible crisis:
# Motorsport: Christian Horner has officially left Red Bull after reportedly agreeing on a huge pay-off with the Formula One team. The 51-year-old, who led Red Bull to eight drivers’ titles and six constructors’ crowns, was sacked as team principal in July. His contract, which had been due to run until 2030, has now concluded, and he will be free to return to the sport, potentially as soon as next year. Media reports in Britain suggested Horner will receive up to 1.9-billion-rand in the pay-off.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-34-cents and the euro at 20-rand-46-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-42-cents and Bitcoin trades at 112-thousand-209-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-744-dollars-61-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 65-dollars-67-cents a barrel.
