# The ANC secretary general, Fikile Mbalula is calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the resumption of peaceful negotiations between Israel and Palestine. Mbalula was speaking during the Palestine solidarity march in Cape Town. He says South Africa stance is consistent with United Nations resolutions which have called for Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories and the urgent implementation of the two-state solution, the independent State of Palestine existing side by side and in peace with the State of Israel:

# The EFF leader Julius Malema says the ANC will not survive in the 2024 national and provincial elections. Malema was addressing the Mpumalanga Ground Forces Forum in Mbombela yesterday. A new representative poll by Ipsos suggests that if an election were held tomorrow, the ANC would get 42 percent. He says those who think and believe that the ANC will survive in 2024, they must pity them:

# The GOOD Party, leader Patricia de Lille says South Africa new democracy inherited in 1994 were vast and complex and the citizens must not underestimate the difficultly that they faced in transforming every facet of society to be free from discrimination and inequality. De Lille delivered a speech at the party Inaugural National Conference in Cape Town yesterday. But 30 years later, South Africa is still in decline, and the excuse of history will no longer cut it.  And history also suggests that when a liberation movement falls, chaos can reign in its place.

# The FF Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald is calling on South Africans to help the party to repair and rebuild the country, then they can have hope for the future. Groenewald was speaking during the FF Plus’s election campaign launch at the Every Nation Church in Goodwood, Cape Town. The situation in South Africa has deteriorated to such an extent that children have resorted to eating sand just to have something in their bellies. Unemployment in South Africa currently stands at 43 percent, and 60 percent among the youth. These figures represent people who have no hope or a future.

# And, cricket: After 45 round-robin games over more than five weeks, ten teams have finally been whittled down to four at the World Cup. Hosts India have topped the standings and will play fourth-placed New Zealand in the first semifinal in Mumbai on Wednesday. Second-placed South Africa take on third-placed Australia in the other semi in Kolkata the next day. The final will take place at the vast Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad next Sunday. There will be no third-place playoff this year.
