# International Relations and Cooperation minister Ronald Lamola has told Parliament that South Africa’s actions follow the Genocide Convention, referring disputes over state responsibility to the International Court of Justice. Lamola highlighted evidence of genocidal statements by Israeli officials and condemned attacks on civilians in Gaza. He emphasized that South Africa will continue pursuing justice through global institutions to ensure accountability and the universal application of humanitarian law:
# Cape Town police are investigating seven murder cases which were reported in Wallacedene and Eikendal on Monday and yesterday. The victims were aged between 19 and 25-years-old. Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg, says in Wallacedene alone, three women and two men were killed in two separate incidents. He says the possibility that these incidents are linked is not ruled out:
Meanwhile, ActionSA delivered a letter to president Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament in which it pleaded with him to declare a state of emergency on the Cape Flats. Between January and March this year, 208 of South Africa’s 240 gang-related murders occurred in the Western Cape. ActionSA’s Dereleen James says the victims of gang and drug-related crimes are human beings who are deserving of safety, dignity and freedom from fear, not abandonment and neglect:
# Cricket: Sophie Devine will lead New Zealand in the Women’s one-day World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which will be her fifth appearance. The White Ferns have included six players in their squad who will feature at their first 50-over World Cup and four who will appear at their first senior International Cricket Council event. Twenty-two-year-old all-rounder Flora Devonshire has received her maiden ODI call-up. Coach Ben Sawyer says he is pleased with the balance of the squad, given the conditions and opposition they will face.

# And finally: The University of the Free State has launched the Good Money Habits App, a dedicated initiative designed to support informal sector and township businesses. The app is part of a research project at the Centre for Development Support, exploring effective ways to support informal enterprises. It offers 15 short videos on practical, day-to-day financial management for township and micro-enterprises. The university says suggestions for future development included expanding the platform by offering content in multiple local languages to broaden accessibility.
