# The Madlanga commission says it’s all systems go for public hearings starting at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria next Wednesday. KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who made allegations of criminality, political interference, and corruption in policing, will be the first witness. Giving an update on the state of readiness, the commission’s spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, said a confidential reporting hotline has been launched for the public:
# The High Court in Pretoria has reserved judgment in the dispute between late former Zambian president Edgar Lungu’s family and the Zambian government. The family challenged a ruling allowing Zambia to repatriate his body for a state funeral. Legal counsel Tembeka Ngcukaitobi argues the widow’s rights and South African law should be considered. He says if leave to appeal is granted, the matter could proceed to the Supreme Court of Appeal for adjudication:
# The body of kite-boarder Graham Howes from Blouberg Strand, Cape Town, has been found following an extensive sea, air, and shoreline search. The 38-year-old was reported missing yesterday evening after failing to return home from an afternoon kite-boarding session off Eden on the Bay. He was last seen on a blue and black kite-board with a white kite sail marked in red, wearing a black wetsuit. The cause of his death remains unknown. Authorities continue investigating.

# Chinese president Xi Jinping says BRICS countries must unite to defend multilateralism, promote open trade, and strengthen cooperation for shared development. Speaking via an interpreter at the virtual BRICS leaders’ summit, Xi warned that protectionism and trade wars are disrupting the global economy. He urged member states to work together to reform global governance, support the World Trade Organisation, and advance inclusive, sustainable growth:
# Golf: DP World Tour champions Thriston Lawrence and Dylan Naidoo will join an already strong South African contingent for this year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club from 4 to 7 December. The South African challenge includes PGA Tour winner Aldrich Potgieter, multiple DP World Tour champion Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Sunshine Tour Order of Merit champion Daniel van Tonder. With Lawrence, Potgieter and Bezuidenhout in the field, this year’s tournament has South Africa’s top three golfers on the official World Golf ranking in action at Sun City.
