# The Department of Water and Sanitation says with the onset of spring and early summer, the eastern and south-eastern regions are forecast to receive above-normal rainfall during early- to mid-spring. It is envisaged that the Vaal and Bloemhof dams will be at least 100-percent capacity. The department’s spokesperson, Wisane Mavasa, says while the anticipated early-season rains may provide temporary relief, water reservoirs in the eastern and south-eastern regions are unlikely to benefit significantly due to persistent moderate drought conditions:
# PepsiCo South Africa and Polyco have partnered to sponsor women reclaimers in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, through the Invest in Dignity Foundation and the Supa Mama Women in Recycling initiative. This collaboration provides financial support and resources, such as recycling trolleys and dignity packs, to improve the working conditions and income potential of women reclaimers. Polyco’s Chantal Philander says with a joint investment of over 387-thousand-rand, the sponsorship has delivered 40 custom-designed recycling trolleys:
# And finally: A Walter Sisulu University-led study has discovered that adding green Rooibos extract to tilapia feed significantly improves fish growth rates and feed efficiency. The trial compared commercial fish feed against feed enhanced with either fermented Rooibos, the familiar red variety, or unfermented green Rooibos extract. Leader of the study, professor Grace Okuthe, says the results showed that tilapia fed green Rooibos grew about 2.83-percent faster and converted feed into body mass 0.9-percent more efficiently than the control group:
