# The police have moved to clarify that the Madlanga commission of inquiry will only get copies of the 121 dockets, which are at the centre of allegations of police corruption. The original dockets will remain with the KwaZulu-Natal political killings task team. The commission is tasked with investigating criminality, political interference, and corruption within the criminal justice system. National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says they fully support the work of the commission:
# ActionSA says Parliament must act to protect government workers’ pensions from corruption. The party has called on Parliament’s standing committee on Public Accounts to summon the leadership of the Government Pensions Administration Agency and Finance minister Enoch Godongwana after reports of ghost contracts. Former policeman Mandla Buthelezi and co-accused Llewellyn Mayers face charges including murder, attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and contravening the Independent Police Investigative Directorate Act. The Keppler family’s lawyer, Windel Bloem, told the SABC News the indictments have been served on both accused:

# Chinese president Xi Jinping says his country is unstoppable and will never be intimidated by bullies. He presided over a military parade in Tiananmen Square today to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. Russian president Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were in attendance. During the parade, hundreds of advanced weapons, including nuclear ballistic missiles and giant underwater drones, were unveiled. Xi urged China’s rise on the world stage and evolution into a global superpower.
# Tennis: Thirty-eight-year-old Novak Djokovic has set up a blockbuster US Open semifinal with Carlos Alcaraz. The Serb defeated American Taylor Fritz in five sets as he continues his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam singles title. Spaniard Alcaraz eased past Czech Jiri Lehecka in straight sets. In the women’s draw, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus received a walkover into the semifinals when her opponent, Czech player Marketa Vondrousova, withdrew with a knee injury. She will face American Jessica Pegula in a repeat of last year’s final.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-71-cents and the euro at 20-rand-60-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-68-cents and Bitcoin trades at 110-thousand-660-dollars.
