# Fourteen-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift and three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce are engaged, nearly two years after going public with their relationship. In a joint Instagram post, the couple wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married”. The post has amassed over 24-million likes. This announcement comes just days after Swift gave a rare insight into her relationship with Kelce during an appearance on his podcast, New Heights, co-hosted with his brother Jason.
# Comic Con Africa 2025 kicks off at the Johannesburg Expo Centre tomorrow, promising its biggest celebration yet. For the first time, sign language interpreters will feature on the main stage, enhancing accessibility. The festival showcases genres from animation to sci-fi, with prizes judged by film industry luminaries. Highlights include exclusive Funko Pops, local cosplayers, and stars Misha Collins and Jessie T Usher. Organisers confirmed Saturday and Sunday tickets are sold out, with limited passes left for tomorrow and Friday.
# The eThekwini Municipality says 18 Durban Fashion Fair mentees are preparing to showcase their collections and launch their labels in front of attending buyers. The highly anticipated fair showcase will feature over 60 designers from across Africa, including the launch of Sompire Femme by Somizi Mhlongo and the exciting runway debut of the Class of 2025 mentees. # The University of the Witwatersrand’s Institute for Collider Particle Physics is one of the global winners of the 2025 ODESS Prize in France. The award, from the Pierre Fabre Foundation, recognises a South African innovation that adapts particle physics technology for real-time air quality monitoring. The competition attracted a record 350 entries from around the world. The winning project, led by ICPP director Bruce Mellado, involves the design and deployment of an artificial intelligence-powered environmental monitoring system to detect air pollution and related health risks in real-time.
# And finally: Western Cape Infrastructure MEC, Tertuis Simmers, visited the Matzikama Municipality to hand over title deeds to approved beneficiaries of the Klawer phase 4 housing project and the Vredendal North housing project phase 6. Simmers says at a budget of over 80-million-rand, the Klawer housing project has yielded 477 Breaking New Ground homes to date:
