Good afternoon, here is your Good News:
# A new book is putting female entrepreneurs at the centre of South Africa’s business story. Her Story, Her Success captures 100 powerful journeys of women who have turned obstacles into opportunities. Curated by WomX Women in Business founder Jayshree Naidoo, the collection shines a spotlight on resilience, innovation, and the real impact that women-owned businesses are making. Naidoo says the book is about inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs and cementing the legacy of women in business:
# Standard Bank data shows that women are increasingly buying homes and vehicles while maintaining stronger credit profiles than men. Despite this, men use the bank’s credit score feature more often. Standard Bank’s Shené Mothilal says women’s lower credit balances contribute to their higher scores. However, only 42-percent of users of the feature are women. The bank encourages women to leverage this advantage to secure better rates and financial opportunities.
# The Woman of Stature Awards South Africa has opened nominations for its 2026 season, inviting female entrepreneurs and change-makers from across industries and communities to enter or be nominated. The awards celebrate women who are driving economic growth, creating jobs, and transforming communities. Nominees will first compete in regional categories. The winners from each region will then go on to compete for the overall national award in their respective categories. At least 800 nominations are anticipated nationwide.
# The eThekwini Municipality says the 14th Durban Fashion Fair promises to be an exhilarating showcase of talent of both fashion designers and models. Central to this initiative is the DFF Class of 2025 Model Training and Bootcamp, which is currently in full swing. The current intake includes 24 participants, of which 14 are female models and ten are male models. Participant Mandisa Khuboni says she is excited to showcase her talents during the fair’s runway shows:
# And finally: 2024 FNB Art Prize winner, Gresham Tapiwa Nyaude’s solo exhibition titled Sugar Coats, is set to open at the Johannesburg Art Gallery tomorrow. The exhibition is part of the prize’s offering for winning. He explores his Zimbabwean identity and the complexities of African life through art. Using symbols, iconography, and playful references to political resistance, he examines the human condition while engaging with socio-political issues. Nyaude says his commitment to his practice as an artist, and a painter in particular, is a commitment to growth and evolution.
