# SANParks says the Kruger National Park’s beloved white lion, Casper, is safe and in good condition, despite some concerns about his health. There were suggestions that Casper, who frequents the area around Satara, may be suffering from anthrax or was possibly bitten by a snake. SANParks’ Reynold Thakhuli says Casper was located and examined, resulting in those two factors being ruled out, but he has injuries above his right eye and in his mouth, which suggest that he was likely bitten by another lion:
# The Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment says climate change is a threat multiplier, but is also an opportunity to build fairer, stronger and more resilient societies. One of the priorities of South Africa’s G20 presidency agenda is the unlocking of climate finance. Last year, government established the Climate Change Response Fund to counter the severe effects of global warming. The department’s Maesela Kekana says climate action is necessary on all fronts: ambitious mitigation to reduce impacts, ambitious adaptation, and measures to address loss and damage.
# And finally: The International Air Transport Association has confirmed it will host its third World Sustainability Symposium in Hong Kong in October, focusing on achieving net-zero carbon emissions in aviation by 2050. The event will unite global leaders from finance, energy, policy, and aviation to tackle challenges including sustainable fuel production, funding the 82-trillion-rand transition, and advancing clean technology adoption. IATA director general, Willie Walsh, says airlines are committed, but stronger action is needed from policymakers, manufacturers, and fuel producers.
