# FNB has received the 2025 National Financial Ombud Scheme of South Africa Excellence Award. This is for its industry-leading commitment to fair customer treatment and excellence in dispute resolution. The award recognises the bank with the highest average score in South Africa across three criteria: quality of response, response time, and fairness, among South Africa’s largest banks. FNB CEO Harry Kellan says they abide by the principles of treating customers fairly, which are built on transparency, trust, respect, and accountability.
# Two Walter Sisulu University affiliates, a graduate and a current student, have secured 25-thousand-rand after qualifying as one of the top 15 finalists in the MTN ENACTUS Digital Innovation Challenge. IT graduate Philasande Mathafeni and his business partner, third-year Human Resource Management student Thulisiwe Matyobeni, have created Fair-Trade Blockchain Marketplace. This mobile application helps smallholder and rural farmers get access to verified, secure, and fairly valued digital marketplaces. The two are now competing for a spot in the top 10.
# Fourteen-time Grammy Award-winning artist Taylor Swift has surprised fans by announcing that she will be releasing her 12th studio album titled The Life of a Showgirl. The 35-year-old last released a studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April 2024, which became the best-selling album of the year. She concluded her record-breaking Eras Tour in December. This new album will be Swift’s first release since becoming the proud owner of her entire catalogue of music in May.
# The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have extended their partnership with Netflix. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first inked a deal with the streamer in 2020 under their production company, Archewell. The couple has since collaborated on projects including Polo, Harry and Meghan, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead. Most recently, Markle debuted her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan. Netflix chief content official, Bela Bajaria, says Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.
# And finally: Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his longtime partner, Georgina Rodríguez, presenting a dazzling diamond ring that has fans speculating it could be worth millions. The 40-year-old Al-Nassr forward popped the question during a romantic getaway, eight years after the couple went public. Ronaldo and Rodríguez, who met in 2016 while she was working at Gucci, share five children. Their engagement has captured global attention, showcasing romance and the soccer icon’s trademark flair on and off the pitch.
