# Parliament’s Select Committee on Economic Development and Trade says it is concerned at the impending 30-percent tariff imposed by the US government on South African exports. This comes into effect on the first of August. Committee chairperson, Sonja Boshoff, says the tariff undermines the historical US–SA trade cooperation, and poses a serious threat to strategic sectors such as citrus, macadamia, automotive components, steel, and aluminium. The commission’s Phetho Ntaba urges affected owners to visit dealerships for free safety checks:

# French president Emmanuel Macron says European countries must end their excessive dependencies on both the US and China. He has been nominated for Men’s Player of the Year alongside Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, Ryan Rickelton, and Keshav Maharaj.
