# And The Devil Wears Prada Two starts filming just as Anna Wintour leaves Vogue
# AfriForum says the Constitution and legislation make it clear that the South African Human Rights Commission does not have the power to make legally binding decisions. The civil rights organisation has joined the case to challenge the commission’s authority. AfriForum’s Ernst van Zyl says last year, the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein ruled that the commission’s directives can only be enforced through the courts:
# The DA in Gauteng says most casualty patients are likely to wait more than four hours before being seen at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. The DA’s Jack Bloom says according to a written reply to the party’s questions in the provincial legislature, Priority 1 trauma patients are seen on arrival, but Priority 2 medical patients take a lot longer, sometimes more than 14 hours:
# CapeNature’s 2025 State of Conservation Report shows major strides in biodiversity protection across the Western Cape. Over 13-thousand hectares were added to the province’s conservation estate, bringing the total to more than one-million hectares. The report highlights the impact of climate change, the need for resilience, and the vital role of partnerships with landowners and researchers. CapeNature CEO Ashley Naidoo says the progress reflects collective efforts toward a more sustainable and environmentally secure future.
# Soccer: Liverpool and Portugal’s 28-year-old forward, Diogo Jota, and his 26-year old brother, Andre Felipe, died in a car crash in northwestern Spain. Authorities say their car, a Lamborghini, left the road due to a tyre blow-out while the driver was overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire. Diogo married his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, just last month. They have three children.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-51-cents and the euro at 20-rand-65-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-91-cents and Bitcoin trades at 109-thousand-726-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-349-dollars-11-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 68-dollars-53-cents a barrel.
# And finally: The Devil Wears Prada Two is one step closer to the big screen, and it’s coming during a huge shift in the fashion industry that inspired it. 20th Century Studios announced the sequel is currently in production, and dovetails with the news that Anna Wintour is stepping down as editor-in-chief of Vogue after almost four decades. She is famously believed to have been the inspiration for Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. The sequel will welcome back Streep, along with Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
