# The GOOD Party welcomes Trump adviser’s rejection of Afrikaner genocide claims
# A former DA councillor sentenced to multiple life terms for killing fiancée and children
# And Rugby: Malcom Marx to face arch-enemy Richie Mo’unga in Japan Rugby League final
# The GOOD Party welcomes remarks by US president Donald Trump’s spiritual adviser, Pastor Mark Burns, dismissing claims of a white genocide in South Africa. Speaking during a visit to the country, Burns said there is no evidence of targeted killings of white South Africans and criticised those spreading the claims as opportunists. GOOD secretary-general Brett Herron, says the statement is a timely and honest intervention that could help improve diplomatic relations between the two nations:
# The Ladysmith Regional Court in KwaZulu-Natal has sentenced former DA councillor Michael Buthelezi to four life terms plus 15-years in prison for the murder of his fiancée and three children in a house fire in Bergville in 2023. Buthelezi was also convicted of arson and giving false information to the police. National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says Buthelezi had a violent history and threatened to kill his fiancée weeks before the fire:
AfriForum has strongly criticised the City of Tshwane’s new city cleaning levy, calling it an act of double taxation. The municipality has approved a monthly charge of around 200-rand for properties not using its refuse collection service. According to the organisation, residents who opted for private refuse removal due to poor municipal service are now unfairly penalised. AfriForum’s Deidré Steffens argues the levy is possibly illegal:
# Saudi Arabia is ramping up a crackdown on unregistered worshippers at next week’s hajj pilgrimage. Regular raids, drone surveillance and a barrage of text alerts are aimed at rooting out unauthorised visitors in and around the holy city of Mecca. The simple message, “No hajj without a permit”, is being blared out in a relentless campaign promoted nationwide at shopping centres, on billboards and across media platforms. Last year, one-thousand-301 pilgrims, most of them unregistered and lacking access to air-conditioned tents and buses, died as temperatures soared to 51.8 degrees Celsius.
# And, Rugby: Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx will be a key cog in Spears Tokyo Bay’s quest for championship glory when they face All Black Richie Mo’unga’s Brave Lupus in the Japan Rugby League One Final on tomorrow. It will be the first time the two foes will meet in a decider since the 2023 World Cup Final which the Springboks won 12-11 against the All Blacks. The 30-year-old Springbok has scored an impressive 27 tries in 39 matches since he touched down in Japan.
