Good day, let’s look at the latest sports news and scores:
# We kick off with rugby: The Springboks started their second and final alignment camp for the international season in Cape Town today. Thirty-six players are attending the camp physically, and 18 overseas-based players joined virtually. South Africa’s first Test of the year will be against the Barbarians in Cape Town on the 28th of next month. This will be followed by Tests against Italy in Pretoria and Gqeberha, and one against Georgia in Mbombela before the start of the Rugby Championship against Argentinia, Australia and the All Blacks.
Meanwhile, World Rugby’s council has approved the global trial of the 20-minute red card, despite resistance from several international unions, including France and Ireland. This comes after it was tried out in several competitions in the northern hemisphere season. The law allows a player who has a committed an act of foul play to be replaced by another player after 20-minutes. The offending player however cannot return to the action. A decision on the permanent adoption of the law will be made in 2026.

Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 73 off 43 balls as Mumbai posted 180 for five in their 20 overs. Mumbai now join Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings in the knockout stages.

Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal proved decisive as Tottenham won their first trophy in 17 years. By winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou’s men have qualified for the Champions League next season. United will not play any European competition next season for only the second time since English clubs were readmitted by UEFA in 1990.
