# President Cyril Ramaphosa will host Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky at the Union Buildings in Pretoria tomorrow during the first official visit by a Ukrainian president to South Africa. The Presidency says the visit will provide an opportunity for the two countries to discuss bilateral relations and expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture and education. It adds that areas of cooperation will be explored to support efforts to bring lasting peace from the Ukrainian-Russian war.
# KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has applauded a joint police team for arresting four suspected gang members linked to over 20 murders in Amaoti, Inanda. The suspects were nabbed in Cato Manor over the weekend with firearms, ammunition, and suspected stolen property. Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says this is a big step in ending the reign of terror that has gripped the community:
# The Public Servants Association is concerned that six magistrates, currently on suspension, have collectively earned 31-million-rand in salaries from September 2018 to date. According to the reports, one magistrate has been on suspension since September 2018, and another since July 2020. PSA’s Claude Naiker says some of the allegations facing the suspended magistrates, including bribery, dishonesty, and other serious misconduct, demand urgent and decisive action:
# Soccer: Motsepe Foundation Championship leaders Durban City has confirmed the passing of midfielder Sinamandla Zondi during a match against Milford FC at the Chatsworth Stadium yesterday evening. The 22-year-old collapsed during the warm-up at half-time and was rushed to the hospital where he died. The game was suspended with Milford leading 1-0. City says Zondi was more than a talented player, he was a teammate, a friend, a brother, a son, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-51-cents and the euro at 21-rand-8-cents. One British pound costs 24-rand-63-cents and Bitcoin trades at 94-thousand-348-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-313-dollars-16-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 66-dollars-33-cents a barrel.

UNESCO says reading is more than just a pastime, it has the power to shape minds, enhance empathy, and improve well-being.
