Good afternoon, here is your Good News:
# Chinchilla Rooftop Bar and Cafe in Camps Bay, Cape Town, has been recognised by Time Out Travel as one of the Top 20 rooftop bars in the world. Located on Victoria Road, the bar which is ranked sixth has been praised for its stunning ocean and mountain views, and laid-back and loungey setup. Sky Bar by Seen in Lisbon, Portugal tops the list followed by Le Perchoir in Paris and Terrasse William Gray in Montreal, Canada, in third place.
# Tshwane University of Technology lecturer Brent Swart’s vibrant new mural is a major hit. He was tasked with creating a mural to celebrate PUBG Mobile’s relationship with its African player base. PUBG Mobile is a free-to-play battle royale video game. Swart collaborated with four alumni students to design and paint the artwork, with the whole process streamed live on TikTok. The mural blends in local cultural elements to craft a vibrant and engaging piece. Four-thousand-500 people watched the process live, which garnered over half-a-million likes.
# Today is World Theatre Day, a celebration of the power of storytelling on stage, uniting cultures and voices. The theme is Theatre and a Culture of Peace. World Theatre Day was established by the International Theatre Institute in 1961. The day was created as a way to promote the importance of theatre as an art form, and to celebrate the significant role it plays in cultural exchange, education, and society. This day is also used to highlight the challenges faced in the arts including limited funding.
# The Angel Network has collected 12-thousand Easter eggs to give to vulnerable children across Johannesburg. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the children receive a special treat this Easter. The network welcomed support from Greenside Primary School, which contributed nearly three-thousand eggs, and the Johannesburg Mini Council that donated five-thousand. The network will now distribute these Easter eggs to orphaned and at-risk children in the hope of making sure they know they are loved and cared for.
# And finally: Ten Johannesburg Society for the Blind residents were spoilt by receiving hand and foot massages from Beautiful Feet SA at Tulisa Park. The initiative, recommended by Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame, was aimed at offering an opportunity to bring joy and relaxation to the visually impaired community. Beautiful Feet SA owner, Melissa Castro, says it was a great pleasure to pamper the residents of JSB, adding that they offered the ten people a refreshing experience beyond their daily routine.
