# The World Bank has raised concerns over inadequate spending on critical water infrastructure worldwide. Speaking at the 14th International Water Association Conference in Cape Town, Water Global director, Saroj Kumar Jha, called for increased investment to ensure long-term water security. He warns that without sufficient funding, many nations could face severe water shortages amid climate change and population growth, impacting economies and livelihoods:
# A groundbreaking study is underway to investigate whether rooibos could mitigate the harmful effects of petrochemical exposure among petrol attendants. Scientists from the National Institute for Occupational Health developed the idea in response to the industry’s significant occupational hazards. The institute’s epidemiologist, Kerry Wilson, says petrol attendants in South Africa work long hours at fuel stations, often inhaling hazardous petrochemical fumes:
# And finally: Today marks the eighth Global Recycling Day, raising awareness of the importance of recycling, and encouraging individuals and organisations to take concrete actions to reduce waste. This year’s theme is, Celebrating the power of the Seventh Resource, a term used to describe recycled materials. According to the Global Recycling Foundation, 2.1-billion metric tons of solid waste are produced every year, but only 16-percent is recycled. Recycling is projected to save over a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.
