# Former International Relations minister Naledi Pandor will speak at the Global African Conference at King’s College in London today. She will discuss the United Nations Security Council reforms, international law, and Africa’s push for two permanent seats. Africa seeks a stronger voice in global governance, highlighting the continent’s role in shaping international relations and advocating for equitable representation. The week-long conference gathers African academics to address multilateral challenges and global power dynamics.
# South Africa is hosting the first meeting of the G20’s Anti-Corruption Working Group in Somerset West in the Western Cape from today. Led by Public Service and Administration minister Mzamo Buthelezi, the Special Investigating Unit, and the Department of Justice, the three-day meeting aims to enhance transparency and accountability. Key discussions will focus on strengthening public institutions, asset recovery, and whistle-blower protection. The G20 nations seek collaborative solutions to drive integrity and justice worldwide as corruption continues to undermine global trust and economic growth.
# The DA in Gauteng says premier Panyaza Lesufi has made a shocking statement by blaming residents for the ongoing water crisis in the province. The DA’s Nico de Jager says during his state of the province address, he claimed that the water shortage in Gauteng is due to residents exceeding their daily water allocations. He says Lesufi’s view not only demonstrates a profound failure to understand the real issue but a leader cowardly running away from responsibility:
# Rugby: This coming weekend’s United Rugby Championship derby between the Sharks and the Lions in Durban will decide who wins the competition’s South African shield. The Stormers are currently in first place after beating the Bulls on Saturday, with the Pretoria team second, followed by the Sharks and the Lions. The Sharks will win the shield if they beat the visiting team from Johannesburg at Kings Park. In the overall URC competition, the Bulls are third, the Sharks fourth, the Lions ninth and the Stormers 12th.
