# The Congress of the People says as concerned citizens and advocates for a united, prosperous South Africa, it stands together to reject the divisive and regressive actions of AfriForum and the Solidarity Movement. COPE’s Pake Dikgetsi says these organisations, representing a tiny minority of South Africans, have persistently sought to undermine the constitutional imperative of transforming society from the oppressive legacy of apartheid into a non-racial, non-sexist and democratic nation:
# Eskom says year-to-date diesel savings have reached R16.69-billion-rand, which is 55.7-percent less than the 29.98-billion-rand spent during the same period last year. Eskom’s Daphne Mokwena says a total of three-thousand-610-megawatts will be returned to service before the evening peak on Monday to further stabilise the grid. She says last week, average unplanned outages increased to 14-thousand-50-megawatts, showing a slight improvement of 194-megawatts compared to the same period last year:
# The city of Tshwane says the work is underway on developing the city’s economic revitalisation strategy, which focusses on growth and innovation. This week, the city hosted a prestigious delegation from Shijiazhuang, China and discussed avenues for collaboration in fields such as economic development, trade, and investment. Mayoral committee member for Economic Development and Spatial Planning, Sarah Mabotsa says Tshwane is on course to develop a high-growth economy that is attractive to both domestic and foreign investors:

According to reports he will also meet with king Charles today. On Friday, Trump threatened to withdraw his support for Ukraine in a live televised meeting. Britain has been a vocal backer of Ukraine and king Charles expressed his support for Zelensky, speaking of the “determination and strength” of the Ukrainian people in the face of an unprovoked attack from Russia.
# And cricket: South Africa eased into the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy tournament after securing a convincing seven-wicket victory over England in their last group B match in Karachi yesterday. Chasing a total of 180 runs to win, South Africa reached their target with more than 20 overs to spare, racing to 181 for 3 in the 30th over of their innings. South Africa dominated the game, with Rassie van der Dussen scoring 72, not out, off 87 balls and Heinrich Klaasen, 64 off 56, carrying them to victory.
