# The minister of Police Senzo Mchunu has called on AfriForum to present their evidence of crime statistics after they challenged the South African Police Service latest released crime statistics. Afriforum disputes the farm murder figures, claiming five farmers were killed. The minister has warned against assumptions linking to farm murders solely to white farmers and emphasised the need for accuracy.
# Parliament Portfolio Committee for Communications and Digital Technologies chairperson Khusela Diko, says the 150-million-rand fund allocated to the South African Post Office is insufficient in addressing financial and operational challenges. The post office has been in business rescue since July 2023. The entity needs 3.8-billion-rand bailout to avoid liquidation. Diko acknowledges that SAPO remains in crisis with workers situation unsustainable:
# ActionSA on Monday will unveil three groundbreaking legislative reforms aimed at overhauling governance in South Africa. Spokesperson, Matthew George, says this reforms are the most significant executive changes since 1994, targeting corruption as a top priority. George says that these initiatives will drive meaningful change and reshape governance. He emphasised that the announcement marks the first in a series of bold steps to improve the country’s prosperity:
# Rugby: The Bulls take on the Stormers in Pretoria in the United Rugby Championship today. Leolin Zas has recovered from illness and will take his place on the left wing, while Stefan Ungerer starts at scrumhalf for the Stormers. Up front, hooker Joseph Dweba and Neethling Fouche get a start, while the experienced Brok Harris and Frans Malherbe are two of six forwards on the bench. The more assured Bulls made just one change to their match-day 23 that downed the Lions at Loftus last weekend.
# And, the Dis-Chem Foundation and the Mia le Roux Movement will transform three young lives by providing cochlear implants. Two toddlers and an infant from underprivileged backgrounds will be the first beneficiaries with surgeries beginning in March. The initiative led by reigning Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, who received her own implant as a child, will be done over a period of three months. This coincides with World Hearing Day which will be commemorated on Monday.
