# Eskom says sufficient replenishment of emergency reserves has allowed it to suspend load-shedding until further notice. Eskom implemented Stage 3 load-shedding over the weekend following over ten months of uninterrupted power supply after it has encountered a temporary setback. Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena says load-shedding was suspended at 6am today and the power utility will provide updates if any significant changes occur:
# The South African National Defence Force has announced that another injured soldier has died in hospital in the the Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday, bringing the total to 14. SANDF’s spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlaminis says the 14 soldiers were part of the SANDF contingent deployed to the region as part of the Southern African Development Community Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He says they displayed extraordinary courage in their confrontation with the M23 rebels who had attacked their base:
Meanwhile, the IFP is calling for peace between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and for a return to the negotiation table for the purposes of finding lasting peace. The IFP says every effort must be made to silence the guns. The DRC-Rwanda-M23 Conflict is a major setback for regional and continental peace, stability and development. The IFP added the fallen South African patriots must be honoured through a commitment and action towards peace.
# Cosatu is calling on the South African government to engage its counterpart in the United State of America and clarify the status of the executive order on the Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid. Cosatu in KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary, Edwin Mkhize says the haphazard implementation of this executive order is inflicting pain on the poor and has disregarded workers’ livelihood. He says workers have been left stranded:
# Orlando Pirates edged Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a thrilling Premiership clash in front of a capacity crowd of 80-thouand at the FNB Stadium in Soweto yesterday afternoon. Patrick Maswanganyi’s cheeky penalty during extra time was enough to earn the Buccaneers their three log points and the bragging rights in the Soweto derby. The victory saw Pirates close the gap from log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to three points and Kaiser Chiefs remained fifth after the loss.
