# The South African Communist Party has renewed its call for an inquest to uncover the full truth behind the 1993 assassination of anti-apartheid activist Chris Hani. He was shot dead outside his Boksburg home by Janusz Waluś, who was deported to his birth country of Poland last month after being released on parole. In an exclusive interview with eNCA, Waluś said he had acted alone and he would do it again for the country. SACP’s spokesperson, Alex Mashilo, says the interview underscored Waluś’s intentional lack of remorse:
# The Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research says it is monitoring the increased wind disruptions affecting fruit exporters at the port of Cape Town. Wind speeds of over 80 kilometres per hour have affected operations in recent days. Over the last few years, the port lost, on average, one-thousand-200 hours of operational time a year as a result of extreme wind disruptions. The CSIR says it will continue providing weather data to help with port operations and logistics.
# The National Council of SPCAs has condemned the attack on a Nile crocodile in Limpopo’s Duthuni village. Authorities are investigating the incident showing the beating, kicking, and slashing of the helpless animal, while bystanders cheered. The video was shared on social media. The suspect faces criminal charges under the Animals Protection Act. The crocodile had to be euthanised.

The plane was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, and three US Army soldiers were on board the military helicopter. Fatalities have been confirmed, but no official number as yet. The chief of Washington’s Fire and Emergency Services Department, John Donnelly, says the rescue response is a highly complex operation:
# Rugby: World Rugby has confirmed that the Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia, will host the 2027 men’s World Cup final. The stadium, which has a capacity of 82-thousand, will also host the semifinals, the third-place playoff and two quarterfinals. Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, which will host the opening game, Brisbane, Adelaide, Townsville and Newcastle will host the world’s best 24 teams for six weeks. Rugby Australia’s CEO, Phil Waugh, says the country has a rich history of hosting major tournaments:
