# As South Africa braces itself for increasing climate risks, experts are urging stronger preparedness for extreme weather. Meteorologists have highlighted the need for adaptive strategies to safeguard communities against future climate-related disasters such as cyclones. News24 reports the rising temperatures will exacerbate droughts, heatwaves, and water scarcity. The cyclones are anticipated in several parts of Southern Africa. The region has seen a 0.2-degrees-Celcius temperature rise per decade since 1991.
# The City of Cape Town says it is important that children are taught the value of protecting their environment. The metro recently held an event at Wallacedene Primary School in Kraaifontein, where learners were encouraged to take responsibility for their environment through proper waste disposal and recycling. Mayoral committee member for Urban Waste Management, Grant Twigg, says anti-litter mascot, Bingo, stressed the importance of throwing litter in the bin and separating recyclables from general waste:
# And finally: Indian scientists have proposed a new pangolin species, based on genetic analysis. They reveal that it diverged from the Chinese pangolin 3.4 million years ago. The Indo-Burmese pangolin has reportedly shown unique traits, including distinct scale coloration and cranial features. Conservationists caution its identification could complicate efforts against illegal wildlife trafficking. While promising, experts urge further research to validate its classification.
