# A woman who caused chaos on a FlySafair flight from Durban to Cape Town has been identified as an employee of the SABC. The public broadcaster issued a statement, confirming the information and condemning her actions. In videos on social media, the allegedly intoxicating woman can be heard making racist remarks after crew refused her another drink. She also threatened to get them fired and broadcast the incident on SABC news channels. The airline afterwards banned her from flying with FlySafair.
# The ANC Women’s League says the newly enacted Basic Education Laws Amendment Act is effectively mitigating on the future prospects of young girls who fell pregnant during their school years and ensures this predicament does not determine their social and economic development. Spokesperson Boitumelo Moiloa says this department must prioritise the implementation of comprehensive sexual education programmes in schools:
# South Africa has already spent over 95-million-rand on its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, and an international law expert warns the country will have to think carefully what it wants to achieve with this next year. A lecturer from Stellenbosch University, Michele Olivier, says government has adopted a domestic approach of using legal avenues to solve an essentially political dispute. She doesn’t believe the court will find in favour of genocide, although there are clear examples of war crimes on both sides.
# Rugby: The Stormers improved from 13th to ninth on the United Rugby Championship log when they edged out the Sharks 24-20 in a thrilling encounter at a packed Cape Town stadium. The lead changed hands multiple times and the visitors may have thought they had clinched the game minutes before the end when they were 20-17 ahead. Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok then scored a brilliant try for the hosts which he converted himself, and the Stormers kept control to seal the victory.
# And, the City of Cape Town’s Identikidz programme saw 25-thousand-770 children tagged over the past two public holidays, with 169 lost children reunited with their loved ones.
