# The Amy Foundation will hold its annual gala dinner and auction at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town tomorrow evening. The legendary musician, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, will be awarded the foundation’s Ubuntu Award, recognising her extraordinary contributions to social upliftment and her embodiment of compassion and community spirit. This year, the foundation aims to raise one-million-rand through the auction. The foundation touches the lives of more than two-thousand beneficiaries every year through its innovative After-School Programmes and Youth Skills Development Programmes.
# The Cape Racing Summer Festival is set to kick off at the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town tomorrow. The family-friendly event will include the prestigious Gr2 Cape Punters Cup race, live music, gourmet food trucks, a kids zone, and a trackside market with a variety of clothing, handmade crafts and unique gifts. The organisers say racing enthusiasts will also be treated to thrilling action as they witness the speed and skill of horses competing in the race.
# The City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security Directorate will honour thousands of volunteers at its annual Neighbourhood Watch Awards tomorrow. The awards recognise both individual members and organisations across various categories. These include Neighbourhood Watch Member of the Year, Crime Fighter of the Year, and the Social Responsibility Award. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says four group and six individual awards will be handed out:
# Doppio Zero’s annual Wish Tree initiative is ready to spread festive kindness. The initiative has seen customers, staff, and communities unite to donate goods. This year, donations focused on school supplies for The Learning Trust, which supports children’s education across South Africa. The organisation says the contributions will help provide children with the tools they need to succeed. Previous Wish Tree campaigns have helped build toilets for a nursery foundation school, to ensure mothers and babies in need had a helping hand over the festive season.
# And finally: Milan’s Via Monte Napoleone is now the world’s most expensive shopping street, marking the first time a European city has topped the rankings. This is according to a report by real estate group Cushman and Wakefield. Now in its 34th year, the report tracks rents in 138 leading retail destinations globally. Rents on Via Monte Napoleone jumped eleven-percent over the past 12 months. New York’s Fifth Avenue dropped to second, while London’s New Bond Street overtook Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui to take third place.
