# South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan and his co-accused in a fraud case have been granted 20-thousand-rand bail at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng. Jordaan, Safa’s chief financial official, Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling stand accused of defrauding the governing body of 1.3-million-rand. Magistrate Philip Venter ruled that Jordaan could retain his passport due to work commitments, but Hluyo and Neethling are to surrender their passports:
# Two men accused of murdering alleged underworld kingpin Mark Lifman in George earlier this month, will apply for bail when they return to the local Magistrate’s Court next month. Johannes Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout were apprehended near Uniondale, over 100-kilometres from George, hours after Lifman was gunned down at the parking loft of the Garden Route shopping centre. They are charged with premeditated murder. Lifman was one of the accused in the murder of so-called steroid king Brian Wainstein at the time of his death.
# Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says two-thousand-800 new police members will be deployed next month for extra security during the festive season. This move aims to tackle crime and ensure the safety of both residents and visitors. In her post-cabinet meeting media briefing, Ntshavheni said the officials will focus on high-risk areas, offering visible policing and quicker responses to incidents:
# Patients at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg are reportedly facing a linen shortage due to broken laundry equipment. This has forced the hospital to rely on inadequate provincial laundry services. Staff blames the situation on the hospital’s CEO, Nthabiseng Makgana, with the DA calling for her replacement. The party’s Jack Bloom urges the appointment of a more competent leader to manage the hospital’s four-billion-rand budget:
# Rugby: World Rugby will select a new chairperson at its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, tomorrow to succeed former England captain Bill Beaumont, who filled the position for the past eight years. Three men are in the running: former French captain Abdelatif Benazzi, former Wallaby flanker Brett Robinson, and Italian Andrea Rinaldo. Benazzi, who played 78 Tests for France, recently condemned the introduction of the 20-minute red card. Robinson firmly believes in speeding up the game, while Rinaldo wants a more scientific approach to running the sport.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-99-cents and the euro at 19-rand-12-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-94-cents and Bitcoin trades at 89-thousand-721-dollars.
