# The winners of the Earthshot prize awards were announced at a ceremony in Cape Town. The prize, founded by the Prince of Wales, supports sustainable, eco-friendly projects globally. The winners include the Green Africa Youth Organisation, who use behavioural change to help communities clean up waste, and Keep IT Cool, a Kenyan-based company using solar-powered refrigeration to help cut harvest waste for farmers. Prince William says the prize is a collaborative movement for change:
# Environmental and community groups, including the Green Connection, Aukotowa Fisheries, and Natural Justice, have petitioned the Western Cape High Court to halt TotalEnergies’ oil drilling plans off the West Coast. They argue government’s approval of the project ignored the risks to marine life, coastal communities, and the environment. The Green Connection’s Lisa Makaula believes the approval process was unfair, calling for more sustainable energy solutions:
# And finally: The City of Tshwane has marked ten years since it joined the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. C40 is a global network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis. One of the group’s goals is to help the world limit global heating to 1.5 degrees Celcius. The metro’s spokesperson, Zintle Mahlati, says being a member of C40 has enriched Tshwane’s work to drive inclusive climate action programmes:
