# Joe Biden says Kamala Harris is part of the true American story

# US president Joe Biden says he does not doubt that vice president Kamala Harris will continue to champion the issues she had campaigned on. Biden ended his campaign for a second term in July and endorsed Harris, only to see her lose to president-elect Donald Trump. Biden says under extraordinary circumstances, she stepped up and led a historic campaign that embodied what is possible when guided by a strong moral compass and a clear vision for the nation. He adds that her story represents the best of America’s story.
Meanwhile, the Freedom Front Plus says Trump’s victory is also a win for true democracy. Trump carved out a decisive victory as he won five of the seven battleground states. He is ahead in the final two yet to declare, Nevada and Arizona. FF Plus’ Corne Mulder says it is clear that sound values, security and a strong economy are still the main drives motivating ordinary voters to go to the polls:
# The EFF in Gauteng has commended the Ekurhuleni Department of Water and Sanitation on the launch of the #SaveEveryDrop Campaign. The campaign seeks to promote water conservation and ensure a sustainable future for residents. The EFF’s spokesperson, Baleni Dumisani, says this initiative is particularly essential in light of current water challenges caused by amongst other things population growth, ageing infrastructure, technical water losses, overconsumption, drought and climate change:
# Cricket: The West Indies defeated England by eight wickets in the third and final one-day international in Barbados, to win the series two-one. Phil Salt scored 74 as England posted 263 for eight with Matthew Forde taking three wickets. In reply, Brandon King and Keacy Carty each notched hundreds in a 209-run stand for the second wicket, as the West Indies reached the target with seven overs to spare. The two teams face off again in a five-match T20 series which gets underway In Barbados on Saturday.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-59-cents and the euro at 18-rand-90-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-74-cents and Bitcoin trades at 74-thousand-820-dollars. Gold sells at two-thousand-657-dollars-86-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 75-dollars-33-cents a barrel.
# And finally, the winners of the Earthshot Prize Award were announced at a ceremony in Cape Town last night. The Earthshot Prize, founded by the Prince of Wales, supports sustainable, eco-friendly projects globally. The winners included the Green Africa Youth Organisation, who use behavioural change to help communities clean up waste, and Keep IT Cool, a Kenyan-based company using solar-powered refrigeration to help cut harvest waste for farmers. Prince William says the Earthshot Prize is a collaborative movement for change:
