# Fitch hints at upgrading South Africa’s credit outlook

# Fitch Ratings says it may revise South Africa’s credit outlook if the government’s efforts to rein in debt improve. National Treasury has projected that state debt would peak at 75.5-percent of gross domestic product through March 2026, slightly higher than its February projection. Fitch says if it becomes more confident that South Africa’s medium-term growth outlook will improve sufficiently to reduce challenges associated with fiscal consolidation, this could also be positive for the rating. South Africa is at three levels below investment grade with a stable outlook.
# Human Settlements minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has confirmed Team South Africa’s commitment to global human settlement reforms at the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt. This marks the forum’s first African session in 20 years. Kubayi emphasised South Africa’s focus on sustainable cities, advancement and implementation of sustainable urbanisation and supporting vulnerable communities as it reflects on 30 years of democracy:
# The DA in Gauteng has welcomed the reinstatement of Pretoria High School for Girls principal, Phillipa Erasmus, after her three-month suspension. An investigation commissioned by the provincial Education Department into allegations of racism at the school has recommended authorities consider taking action against Erasmus, the deputy principal, two teachers, and several others. The DA’s, Sergio Isa Dos Santos, claims the investigation was flawed:
# Former US president Donald Trump has vowed to restore peace in the world and rescue the American dream. He held final rallies in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, which is considered the most crucial battleground state, and Michigan ahead of the presidential elections today. Speaking at a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump claimed that God saved him in the failed assassination attempt in July so he could save America:
# Tennis: World number one Aryna Sabalenka is through to the semifinals of the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Gold sells at two-thousand-729-dollars-5-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 75-dollars-5-cents a barrel.
