# Eskom says it remains on track to meet electricity needs in the country as load-shedding continue to remain suspended for over seven months since 26 March. Eskom’s Daphne Mokwena says investments in the generation recovery plan have been instrumental in maintaining a stable power supply across South Africa, driving efficiencies, and achieving 13.7-billion-rand in year-on-year diesel savings. She says unplanned outages are at ten-thousand-284-megawatts indicating enhanced operational efficiency in the past week:
# The ANC says it is confident the newly elected Botswana leadership of the Umbrella for Democratic Change under president Duma Boko will foster policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of Botswana’s people and serve to advance progress in the enduring pursuit of African unity and progress. ANC spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri also extended respect to the Botswana Democratic Party for their gracious acceptance of the election outcomes:

Speaking at the Innovative Pharmaceutical Association South Africa’s Annual General Meeting in Johannesburg, he emphasised that health challenges disproportionately impact vulnerable populations. Godlimpi advocated for robust domestic manufacturing in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to enhance self-reliance. He highlighted the need for collaboration between government, industry leaders, and innovators to strengthen South Africa’s healthcare and drive economic growth.

Governor Jay Inslee said he made the decision after he received information and concerns regarding potential violence. The order is set to go into effect Monday and last until midnight on Thursday. Kamala Harris is easily expected to defeat Donald Trump in the state. Ballot boxes were set on fire there earlier in the week, with hundreds of votes thought to be damaged.
# And, swimming: The 32-year-old Chad le Clos took gold in the men’s 200-metre butterfly on the second day of the 2024 Swimming World Cup leg in Singapore yesterday.
