# The Freedom Front Plus says it is clear that advertising campaigns for the National Health Insurance was mostly a waste of money and not justified. Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi revealed that 89-million-rand had been spent on advertising campaigns for the NHI and that the expenditure did not offer value for money. FF Plus’, Philip van Staden, says this demonstrates how desperate government is to sell its impractical plans to the public using their own tax money:
# The National Energy Regulator of South Africa says it notes Eskom’s intention of approaching the High Court to review its decision to grant four new trading licences. A crucial council meeting turned violent yesterday, when two DA councillors, accused of causing chaos, were forcibly removed from the chambers by private security. During the incident, some councillors clapped, shouted and heckled while others filmed the ordeal. The DA’s, Cilliers Brink, says they will open a case against the council speaker Mncedi Ndzwanana and others involved in this incident:
# US vice president Kamala Harris has described former president Donald Trump’s recent comments about women as outrageous, and evidence he simply does not respect the freedom of women. Trump said he would protect women in America whether they like it or not. Speaking at a rally in the pivotal battleground state of Nevada, Harris, said Trump wants to impose a national abortion ban, restrict access to birth control, put IVF treatments at risk, and force states to monitor women’s pregnancies:
# Tennis: Frenchman Ugo Humbert knocked out world number two Carlos Alcaraz to reach the Paris Masters quarterfinals. Humbert, who is chasing his third ATP Tour title of the season, saw off the Spaniard, 6-1 3-6, 7-5. World number three Alexander Zverev of Germany defeated France’s Arthur Fils, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the third round to reach his 31st ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal and sixth this year. There were also wins for Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas and Australia’s Alex de Minaur.
