# The fuel industry has warned of a severe jet fuel supply threat due to regulatory delays in licensing import storage facilities by the South African Revenue Services. Following the closure of refineries in KwaZulu-Natal, temporary licensing arrangements for aviation kerosene are set to expire soon. If they are not extended, OR Tambo and King Shaka International airports risk significant supply shortages. Stakeholders warn this may lead to flight cancellations. The Fuels Industry Association urges the Finance minister to intervene and extend temporary licenses for at least 12 months.
# Umalusi has approved the 2024 National Senior Certificate exams, set for 21 October to 28 November. # Deputy minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Narend Singh, has raised concerns about carbon pricing at an industry conference on bridging compliance. The conference focused on the impacts of carbon pricing mechanisms, especially the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, on South Africa’s metals and engineering sectors.
