# Cabinet welcomes the UN General Assembly’s resolution on Israel’s occupation of Palestine

# The cabinet welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution declaring Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza as unlawful. The resolution mandates the complete withdrawal of Israeli settlers and soldiers from these areas and reaffirms international support for the two-state solution. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni told the media the government has reiterated its commitment to peace and justice, supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict:
# ANC national executive committee member Obed Bapela is accused of misrepresenting the party during a trip to Morocco, which he claimed was a family visit. Bapela allegedly organised a delegation and presented it as an official ANC delegation, misrepresenting the party’s stance on Western Sahara. Deputy secretary-general Nomvula Mokonyane has instructed Bapela to cease all political engagements. She says his conduct contradicts the ANC’s established positions including its support for the decolonisation of Western Sahara. The party awaits Bapela’s formal explanation.
# EFF leader Julius Malema has announced plans for the party’s elective conference in December. This includes the registration of delegates and the election of new leadership. Malema told the media an independent electoral commission will be appointed to oversee these processes, and the party will establish 12 different commissions, including one focused on land and agrarian reform:
# Rugby: The Sharks will once again take continuity into their United Rugby Championship clash with Benetton at Stadio Monigo on Saturday afternoon. # And finally: South Korean author Han Kang has won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life. The prize money is over 19-million-rand and she will be presented with a medal on 10 December alongside other winners. The Nobel committee’s Anders Olsson says Kang, known for books like The Vegetarian and Human Acts, has gained global recognition:
