# We start with cricket: Ireland beat South Africa by ten runs in the second and final T20 International in Abu Dhabi, to draw the series one-all. Ross Adair scored 100 off 58 balls, his maiden century in T20, as Ireland posted 195 for six in their 20 overs. In reply, Mark Adair took four wickets as the Proteas fell just short of the competitive total, ending on 185 for nine. This is Ireland’s first T20 international win over South Africa at the seventh attempt.
# Tennis: Second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz recorded his 200th tour-level win in the round of 16 of the China Open, becoming the third player born in the 2000s to achieve this feat. The Spaniard defeated Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, 6-1, 6-2. Alcaraz then beat seventh-seeded Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals. The Russian defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 7-6, 7-6, while Chinese wildcard Bu Yunchaokete pulled off a shock 6-2, 6-4 win over sixth-seeded Italian Lorenzo Musetti.
# Soccer: Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag say he is confident he will be given time by the club, as the pressure ramps up on his position. United suffered a three-nil defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford yesterday, with captain Bruno Fernandes receiving a red card just before halftime. United now has seven points after six Premier League games. Ten Hag, who is in his third season, says he is not concerned about his job:
# Motorsport: Spain’s Jorge Martin extended his championship lead by winning the Indonesian Moto Grand Prix, his third victory of the season. The Prima Pramac Racing driver finished ahead of compatriot Pedro Acosta in second and championship rival Francesco Bagnaia in third. South Africa’s Brad Binder finished eighth for KTM. Martin, who took a valuable 25 points in his championship charge, extending his advantage from over Bagnaia to 21, says it was a tough race:
# And finally, golf: Team USA secured a record-extending tenth consecutive Presidents Cup by beating the International Team at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada. The US took an 11-7 advantage into the final day, having won six of the eight points on offer on Saturday, leaving them requiring just 4.5 more points. Keegan Bradley beat Kim Si-woo to secure the winning point, with the US winning six of the singles matches and tying three. Bradley says the team was incredible:
