# Caledon in the Overberg region of the Western Cape is now the home of the world’s longest zipline. At 3.2-kilometres, SA Forest Adventures’ K3 zipline is just under 400-metres longer than the previous record-holder, Jais Flight in Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. Tourism MEC Ivan Meyer says this new zipline will boost the local economy through tourism:
Staying in the Western Cape, MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, says the provincial Indigenous Games festival brings people together so they can understand the games their ancestors played. The festival is a three-day event, which started on Tuesday and ends tomorrow. Mackenzie says the festival sees district teams from across the province competing in various indigenous games, including dibeke, drie-stokkies, jukskei and morabaraba.
# Globally recognised South African environmental and human rights leader, Kumi Naidoo, has been appointed president of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. The organisation says Naidoo brings over three decades of activism and leadership experience to the role and will help spearhead its mission to secure a global plan for a just, financed and equitable transition away from fossil fuels. Naidoo says the organisation is a movement for global justice:
# A unique study aid has been launched to help improve matric results and reduce learner exam anxiety. MyExamSlayer seeks to boost individual scores by up to 26-percent and is freely available for learners at underprivileged rural schools. Developed by retired journalist Richard Lyon, the online course teaches effective exam strategies, stress management, and time management skills. Lyon says the course is accessible on any device and empowers learners to study at their own pace, alleviating pressure on teachers.
# And finally: Grammy-award-winning singer and songwriter, Lady Gaga, will release a seventh studio album and Harlequin, a soundtrack album titled to her forthcoming film, Joker: Folie et Deux. The soundtrack album, which will feature 13 tracks, will be released on Friday and her studio album next month. In the movie out next month, Gaga stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix. Both albums follow her recent surprise single with Bruno Mars, Die With a Smile.
