# Five people have died when their sedan overturned and caught fire on the D2945 Road between Mgobobodzi and Madadeni, Mpumalanga this morning. Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liason spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, says MEC Jackie Macie has urged motorists to drive cautiously, emphasising the need to respect road rules to prevent further tragedies:
# South Africa’s print media sector is in turmoil, with Independent Media, publisher of The Star and Cape Times, restructuring due to declining advertsing revenue and high print costs. Executive chair Iqbal Survé cites the unsustainable model as driving the shift towards digital. Meanwhile, Mail & Guardian is expected to issue retrenchment notices. Survé says the industry’s future remains uncertain amid rapid digital transformation.
# Airports Company South Africa has reported the deaths yesterday of two travellers at OR Tambo and King Shaka International Airports respectively. Spokesperson Ernest Mulibana says a traveller fell from parking Level 5 at OR Tambo, while another collapsed at King Shaka’s domestic arrivals terminal. Both were declared dead on the scene. Mulibana says investigations are underway:
# Soccer: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he is pleased that the club’s long-awaited hearing into 115 charges brought by the Premier League is set to start tomorrow. City face 80 breaches of financial rules between 2009 and 2018, plus a further 35 of failing to cooperate with a Premier League investigation. The English champions stand accused of failing to provide accurate financial information between 2009 and 2018, including revenue from sponsors and salary details of managers and players.
# And finally, Mpumalanga Culture, Sport, and Recreation MEC Leah Mabuza has announced that renowned Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu’s designs will adorn the columns of three new libraries in Nkangala, Gert Sibanda, and Ehlanzeni. This initiative honours Mahlangu’s work and encourages the community to explore the art space. The announcement was made during the handover of an art studio to Mahlangu at her Kwa-Ndebele home, promoting cultural preservation and artistic legacy.
