# Acting minister in the Presidency, Maropene Ramokgopa, says South Africa is making significant progress in addressing grey-listing concerns with the Financial Action Task Force. Key reforms include enhancing anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing frameworks, improving regulatory enforcement, and increasing financial transparency. Briefing the media on the outcomes of the cabinet meeting, Ramokgopa says 15 of 20 technical compliance requirements are now fully met, but 14 effectiveness deficiencies remain to be resolved by February next year:
# Deputy president Paul Mashatile is outlining government’s actions against construction mafias during a question and answer session in the National Assembly. He will also update Members of Parliament on peace efforts in Sudan, progress with Communal Property Associations, and interventions to address water infrastructure challenges. Mashatile will also provide details on measures to prevent violence between police and criminals.
# EFF member of Parliament, Natasha Ntlangwini, is calling on National Assembly speaker Thoko Didiza to protect its members in Parliament against some ministers who are still failing to answer their questions. # Union federation Saftu says the Western Cape Department of Education’s decision to cut two-thousand-400 teaching jobs will deepen the education crisis in the province. The federation argues these cuts will lead to severe teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms, and declining education quality, negatively impacting learners and communities. Saftu’s Newton Masuku also warns of the economic consequences, as affected teachers may join millions already living below the food poverty line:
# Paralympic Games: Australian swimmer Alexa Leary broke the world record twice and claimed gold in the 100-meter freestyle S9, only three years after a horrific bicycle accident that altered her life. The 23-year-old fell off her bike at high speed while training for a triathlon in 2021, and suffered serious brain damage and several long-term injuries. Her parents were informed more than once she won’t survive, but a clairvoyant told them she would win Paralympic gold one day. Leary also won gold with the 100-meter relay team in Paris.
