# ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says Justice and Constitutional Development minister, Thembi Simelane, will appear before the party’s integrity commission. This is over allegations that she received more than 500-thousand-rand from a company that brokered deals with VBS Mutual Bank, which led to its collapse. This was when she was Polokwane’s mayor. Simelane is also set to appear before Parliament’s portfolio committee on Justice on Friday. Mbalula told eNCA they are expecting a full report from Simelane on the allegations:
# The MK Party Youth League says it can no longer stand by as rogue elements within its ranks continue to undermine the unity and progress of the league for personal glory. This comes as former league president Bonginkosi Khanyile and former secretary-general Minenhle Cibane, who were fired in April, are continuing to set up speaking events without any formal deployment. The league’s spokesperson, Nkateko Mkhabela, says they are calling on the MK Party to intervene and prevent what could become a chaotic revolt:
# The DA calls on the Eastern Cape government to capitalise on the province’s untapped tourism potential during Tourism Month. The DA’s Leander Kruger highlights the region’s rich cultural heritage, urging decisive action to address management challenges and infrastructure issues. He calls for strategic partnerships and investment to transform the province into a leading tourist destination, boosting the local economy:
# Former childcare worker, Ashley Paul Griffith, has pleaded guilty to 307 child sex offences, including 28 charges of rape, against dozens of children under his care in Brisbane, Australia, and Italy between 2007 and 2022. He appeared at the Queensland District Court this morning, where he also admitted to multiple counts of possessing child exploitation material. The Australian federal police believe Griffith, who had the required childcare qualifications, recorded all his offences on phones and cameras at work.
# Rugby: The Springboks remain the only undefeated team in the Rugby Championship after three rounds after beating beat New Zealand 31-27 at Ellis Park on Saturday. The Boks lead the competition with 14 points, followed by the All Blacks with six points, Argentina with five, and Australia with four. The Wallabies recorded their maiden win of the championship over the Pumas this weekend. Bok coach Rassie Erasmus says winning the Championship is very important, but the focus now is on facing New Zealand again in Cape Town.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-85-cents and the euro at 19-rand-76-cents.
