# Former president Jacob Zuma’s private prosecution against president Cyril Ramaphosa has been postponed to 6 February next year. Zuma appeared in the High Court in Johannesburg to keep his case active. He accuses Ramaphosa of being an accessory after the fact, alleging that leaked medical records during his arms deal trial breached the National Prosecuting Authority Act. Zuma’s lawyer, Dali Mpofu, told the court the new date allows for further legal processes and discussions:
# Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Gary van Niekerk has called on National Treasury to discuss budget options for CCTV installations to curb a surge in kidnappings. The metro has seen at least ten kidnappings of business owners or their spouses this year. Van Niekerk believes the absence of CCTV has contributed to the rise in kidnappings and will seek funding to address this issue.
# The South African Zionist Federation says it condemns the South African government’s alignment with Iran and terrorist groups as tensions in the Middle East escalate. The federation says government’s recent silence and support for rogue states, including Iran and Hezbollah, contradict ethical standards and endanger economic ties with the US and Europe. Spokesperson Rolene Marks asks for a shift to a balanced foreign policy that supports Israel’s right to self-defense and seeks peaceful conflict resolution:
# Rugby: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Elrigh Louw will make their first Test starts for South Africa in Saturday’s Rugby Championship opener against the Wallabies in Brisbane. The Springboks largely reverted to the squad that shared a two-Test series with Ireland last month, while including World Cup-winning scrumhalf Cobus Reinach and replacement utility forward Ben-Jason Dixon. Twenty-two-year-old Feinberg-Mngomezulu will start at flyhalf and Louw at number eight. Scrum coach Daan Human says Australia is playing good rugby at the moment:
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-54-cents and the euro at 20-rand-23-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-55-cents and Bitcoin trades at 55-thousand-118-dollars-53-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-413-dollars-8-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 76-dollars-42-cents a barrel.
# And finally, a South African rapper, currently based in Los Angeles, Nomoya Refiloe Dube, will make her big debut in the MHL and The Fugees Tour this month. The tour, which includes Lauryn Hill, YG Marley, The Fugees, and D.I.O. will start in Florida on Friday, and close off in Paris, London, and Amsterdam. Known professionally as MOYA, the Mpumalanga rapper is gearing up to release her debut single Big Boy Gun. She says her sound is very versatile, more Caribbean, but leaning towards country and hip-hop with a touch of reggae.
