# The EFF says it is willing to participate in an ANC led government of national unity as long as it excludes the DA and the Freedom Front Plus. EFF secretary-general Marshall Dlamini says the DA and FF Plus represent the imperialist rejection of progressive internationalism and affirmative action, as well as expropriation of land without compensation to address apartheid and the colonial land regime:
Earlier, ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal said the political parties in the national and provincial governments of unity should collaboratively govern while holding each other accountable. ActionSA’s Zwakele Mncwango says the people of KZN need a dependable government, not one that protects its own interests at the expense of residents. Mncwango adds the eThekwini Municipality would perform better if placed under administration in terms of the Constitution:
# Government’s sixth administration has achieved the country’s first primary budget surplus in 15 years. Acting government spokesperson Nomonde Mnukwa says the last budget surplus was before the 2008 global financial crisis. Mnukwa add this commendable achievement was attained due to the support National Treasury received from president Cyril Ramaphosa, minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana and the cabinet despite many challenges that confronted the national fiscus:
# Cricket: Just seven runs stood between the Proteas and their first T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados last night. India lifted their second T20 World Cup. India posted an impressive 177 for victory, and then limited South Africa to 169 for eight. At one stage, the Proteas were chasing 30 runs off 30 balls with six wickets in hand, but India held their nerve. Opener Virat Kohli shed tears of joy as he was named Player of the Match, while bowler Jasprit Bumrah was declared Player of the Tournament.
# And, Anglo American has celebrated the official handover of one of the iconic buildings at its former campus in the Johannesburg CBD to the University of Witwatersrand’s Business School. The impressive building will allow the business school to launch the ‘Wits Crucible’, a state-of-the-art Centre for Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation. Anglo American’s South African board chairperson, Nolitha Fakude, says through the company’s collaboration with several public and private sector partners, they are contributing towards the rejuvenation of the city.
