# Stellenbosch University says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Special Investigating Unit to find new approaches and strategies in the fight against corruption at the university. The Stellenbosch University’s spokesperson, Martin Viljoen says the MOU will focus on the areas of training and research, community engagement, capacity building, and exchange of information and expertise:
# A man is expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in the Free State today on a charge of culpable homicide. Police spokesperson, Thabo Covane says the 48-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday. Police earlier received a report that his 28-year-old girlfriend was attacked and killed by two pit bulls and two Rottweilers at his home in Namibia Square, Bloemfontein. Covane says police rushed to the scene and found the victim with severe dog bites. Emergency workers declared her dead at the scene.
# Cricket: England produced their best performance of the T20 World Cup so far to begin the Super 8 stage with a composed eight-wicket win against West Indies. After restricting the previously unbeaten co-hosts to 180-4 on a good pitch, the defending champions completed the chase with 15 balls to spare. England will play South Africa in less than 48 hours, knowing a win will likely seal their progression to the semi-finals. After that, they still have a meeting with the tournament’s surprise package, the United States, with the top two sides in the group progressing.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-98-cents and the euro at 19-rand-32-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-86-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-132-dollars-77-cents. # And finally, Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 movie, the name of which has yet to be revealed, will be released on 25 June next year. The film is co-produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and extensively shot at the Silverstone Circuit. Hamilton has been heavily involved in the script to make the film as authentic as possible. The 60-year-old Pitt will play the role of a veteran driver who is returning to the F1 grid after a long absence. Apple has bought the rights to the movie with a budget said to be in the region of 2.5-billion-rand
