# The Automobile Association forecasts a positive outlook for most fuel prices next month based on mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund. The price of 93-octane petrol is expected to see the biggest decrease of one-rand-15-cents per litre, with 95-octane petrol dropping by around one-rand-ten-cents per litre. The association’s spokesperson Eleanor Mavimbela says diesel prices may decrease by approximately 55-cents per litre, and illuminating paraffin prices by around 45-cents per litre:
# The Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga has welcomed the signing into law of the Economic Regulation of Transport Bill by president Cyril Ramaphosa. The department’s spokesperson, Collen Msibi says the Bill will oversee pricing, investigate complaints and enforce compliance by ensuring a fair and competitive transport industry. Msibi says the Transport Economic Council shall serve as an appeal institution on the decisions made by the Regulator:
# The 1000 Women Trust has launched a national From-Bystander-to-Upstander competition. 1000 Women Trust brand manager, Adrie Jurgensen says this initiative aims to mobilise learners across South African schools to address bullying. Jurgensen says with the distribution of 20-thousand pamphlets to schools, the organisation invites participation in the competition, and encouraging schools on how to intervene when bullying occurs at schools:
# Sri Lanka’s highest court has shot down a government bill seeking gender equality, arguing it could set a legal precedent for the decriminalisation of homosexuality and same-sex marriage. The three-judge bench of the Supreme Court ruled the bill, which sought to tackle sexism and violence, undermined conservative values on the majority-Buddhist island. The court said recognising persons with different gender identities would also violate the constitution. The Gender Equality Bill seeks to enshrine in law equal opportunities to all irrespective of differences in sex or gender identity.
# Rugby: The United Rugby Championship final between the Bulls and Glasgow Warriors at Loftus on Saturday at 6 pm, will be preceded by a live screening of the Springboks’ match against Wales at Twickenham. The URC final will be contested by two teams who were considered the underdogs in their respective semi-finals. The Bulls got the better of Leinster, while the Warriors upset defending champions Munster. It will be the Bulls’ second URC final in three seasons and a first at home, and the first since 2019 for the men from Scotland.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-13-cents and the euro at 19-rand-42-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-97-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-143-dollars-89-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-313-dollars-94-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 84-dollars-31-cents a barrel.
