# The Election Commission says every voter in the queue by 9 pm will be assisted
# The EFF calls on the IEC to address voter roll machine failures urgently
# And deputy president Mashatile says he is proud of the country’s peaceful democratic elections
# You only have two hours left to vote, but the Electoral Commission has announced earlier that every voter in the queue by nine, will be assisted. Millions of South Africans queued from early this morning in the most important election since 1994. The IEC estimates today’s voter turnout will exceed 66-percent, higher than the turnout in 2019. Despite several glitches in the voting process in different parts of the country, the IEC is satisfied with the overall process.
# The EFF has urgently called on the Independent Electoral Commission to address the failures of voter roll machines observed in several voting stations nationwide. They suspect this may be a ploy for an unplanned second day of voting, raising worries about the integrity of the election. Party leader Julius Malema calls for the IEC to resolve the issue quickly and urges supporters to remain patient:
# And finally: Deputy president Paul Mashatile says South Africans should be proud of participating in the democratic election process. After voting in Gerhardsville, Tshwane, Mashatile called on voters to come out and vote for their preferred party in this historic event. He welcomed the largely peaceful process and said everyone has a democratic right to cast their ballot. He also welcomed the enhancement of security:
