# Cosatu says workers are ready to fill FNB Stadium in Johannesburg today for their ally, the ANC’s Siyanqoba Rally. Spokesperson Matthew Parks says they have been meeting with workers from taxi ranks in Mamelodi to factories in Sedibeng, from the mines of Carletonville to the farms of Krugersdorp. He adds workers are excited to declare their support at the Siyanqoba Rally in their numbers:
# Eskom has announced load-shedding remains suspended until further notice, which includes the voting day on Wednesday. This is due to the continued structural improvement in the reliability of the generation fleet. Load-shedding has currently been suspended for 58 consecutive days. Eskom’s spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says the last time South Africa experienced such an extended suspension was between December 2021 and February 2022:
# City Power has intensified its fight against cable theft and vandalism, resulting in the arrest of 22 individuals. Among those arrested are eleven Lesotho nationals caught tampering with infrastructure near the M1 tunnels where a fire broke out earlier this month, causing a prolonged outage. Additional arrests occurred in Orlando East, Turffontein, Wilgeheuwel, Alexandra, La Rochelle, Booysens and Devland. Spokesperson Isaac Mangena commended the collaboration with communities and the police in safeguarding essential infrastructure:
# Cricket: Heinrich Klaasen blasted a 34-ball half-century as Sunrisers Hyderabad cruised into the final of the Indian Premier League with a comfortable 36-run win over Rajasthan Royals. Klaasen whacked four sixes as he helped the Sunrisers post 175 for nine after Travis Head and Rahul Tripathi had earlier got them off to a fine start. Shahbaz Ahmed then did the damage with the ball with an impressive three for 23. Sunrisers will play Kolkata Knight Riders in tomorrow’s final in Chennai.
# And, the Tourism Transformation Fund has approved 272-million-rand in transactions, supporting black-owned tourism enterprises since 2017. Launched by the Department of Tourism and the National Empowerment Fund, it provides tailored funding solutions, including grants, debt financing and equity contributions. Tourism deputy minister Fish Mahlalela highlights the creation of one-thousand-and-47 jobs and support for black women-owned and youth-managed businesses. Despite progress, Mahlalela noted the need for further transformation to achieve equitable growth in the sector.
