# ActionSA says it will begin what a tour of failed sewage infrastructure across South Africa. The tour will begin by examining cases of sewage infrastructure collapse in Cape Town, East London, Makhanda and Welkom. The party is already in court with the eThekwini Municipality since 2022, over the failure of its sewage infrastructure that has polluted communities, rivers and the coastline. ActionSA’s Michael Beaumont says this tour will also present practical solutions to solving the country’s sewage infrastructure problems:
# Parliament’s select committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Water and Sanitation and Human Settlements has unanimously adopted the National Water Resource Infrastructure Agency Bill. It seeks to ensure a sustainable, equitable and reliable supply of water from national water resources infrastructure, while meeting constitutional obligations. The committee’s chairperson, China Dodovu, says their support is based on the belief the agency will make an impact on the lives of people by ensuring the provision of water through enabling infrastructure.
# And finally: The minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Barbara Creecy, says South Africa, home to numerous migratory birds, recognises the urgency of addressing declining insect populations. Insects play a vital role in the survival of migratory bird species in providing essential energy sources. The department’s spokesperson, Peter Mbelengwa, says the alarming decline in insect populations globally poses a significant threat to migratory birds:
