# ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile urges eligible voters to support the ANC to continue its work started 30 years ago. Despite fierce competition, Mashatile expresses confidence in the ANC’s victory on 29 May. Residents in Sedibeng, Gauteng highlighted major challenges facing the communities including high levels of crime, poverty and unemployment. Mashatile highlighted the party’s willingness to assess achievements and areas for improvement over the past three decades of democracy:
Meanwhile, Cosatu says the DA’s election manifesto pledge to scrap the national minimum wage, that has raised the wages of six million impoverished workers across the economy, is a brutal reminder that it cannot be trusted with the lives of workers. The DA’s manifesto and pledge will condemn millions of workers to absolute poverty. Cosatu’s Matthew Parks says since 1994 in Parliament, the DA has voted against every single law improving the working conditions and rights of workers in the country:
# The DA in Gauteng says if elected into government it will conduct a forensic audit of the housing waiting list, to ensure that only the rightful beneficiaries are allocated housing. The housing backlog stands at more than 1.2-million. The DA’s premier candidate, Solly Msimanga, says the housing crisis in the province continues to persist, and the provincial government’s toothless approach to protecting infrastructure projects from vandalism and highjackings exacerbates this problem.
# Cricket: Kane Williamson will captain New Zealand for the fourth time in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States. The Black Caps’ 15-player squad include the experienced fast-bowling duo Tim Southee and Trent Boult. Fast bowler Matt Henry and batter Rachin Ravindra will be making their T20 World Cup debuts. New Zealand coach Gary Stead believes he has selected a well-balanced squad and is confident of a strong showing in the tournament.

Gold sells at two-thousand-342-dollars-46-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 87-dollars-88-cents a barrel.
# And finally: South African Airways has resumed its Johannesburg to Perth flights, marking its return across the Indian Ocean post-Covid pandemic.
